Odorico’s grave

Northern Cemetery (Rennes, France)
The grave of the mosaic worker Odorico was created in the first half of the 20th century.

The Odorico family comes from Italy. Two generations developed a mosaic business in France, during the first half of the 20th century, using Art-Deco style to offer original motifs and a clever mix of colors.
Obviously, the grave is covered by pink and gold mosaic, which is original and highlights a poppy flower pattern (which means eternal sleep). The grey-granite cross and the “IHS” abbreviation (from the latin “Iesus Hominum Salvator”) refers to the catholic religion of the family.
